I cannot stress enough the importance of having a self-care routine.
You may not notice it but your daily task, no matter how simple or difficult it is, can all lead to physical or mental stress.
That morning when you thought you had a good, long sleep but still, you feel so drained. That time when you’re supposed to be working but you end up browsing Instagram for more than an hour.
That night when you’re supposed to sleep because you’re so tired yet your mind is still awake.
These are just some of the things that you might do if you’re dealing with stress.
Not only is this unhealthy, but it might also affect your mindset.
You thought you’re just relaxing — browsing photos, binge-watching but the truth is that you’re steering clear of doing things that are good to your mind and body.
If you want to truly relax your mind and body, one of the best things you can do is incorporate self-care routine during nighttime.
Taking time to pamper yourself before bedtime not only helps you unwind; it also gives you something to be excited about at the end of the day.
You’ve been working all day, taking care of your family, business, or work so it’s only right if you can give yourself some sort of reward and that can be through an evening self care activity.
Also, when you have an evening self care routine, it contributes to good sleep so you can feel refreshed and rejuvenated the next day instead of feeling drained or unmotivated.
So, if you’re clueless about what evening self care ideas you can have or you just want to add a new routine, here are some of my tips.
There are many advantages when it comes to working at home; however, there are disadvantages, too. For instance, it’s hard to separate life from work.
Unlike when you’re working outside, you might be tempted to open emails or do work-related tasks even outside working hours.
You might think like it’s harmless. After all, you’re just at home. However, such small things can contribute to stress so be sure to respect your hours working and having a life outside of it.
So whether you’re working from home or not, set a time for working hours and when you’re done, be sure to stay away from your laptop (or even phone) and simply enjoy life.
One of the best ways to lower the stress level in your body is through deep breathing.Even for as quick as 10 minutes, deep breathing is powerful enough to tell your mind to relax and by doing so, your brain tells your body to calm down as well.
Visualization is about the ability to see something in your mind. It’s almost the same as imagination but as the name suggests — “visual” — you only use one sense, which is the sense of sight.
It is almost like daydreaming where you see the result of what you want only this time, it’s more controlled.
It can also include mental images intended to relax your mind. For instance, imagine yourself on a tranquil beach, thinking about how warm the sand feels on your feel, hearing the tranquil sound of the waves, and seeing the blue clear sky.
There are many forms of meditation you can try; for instance, guided meditation wherein another person (for instance, a teacher or a voice from an app) will guide you to relax your mind and body.
It often includes visualization, too.
There’s also hypnotherapy meditation that doesn’t only result in relaxation but also to change a habit or behavior.
And of course my favorite, tea meditation.
It’s simply being aware of every step — from brewing to drinking the tea. It’s observing everything using your five senses, allowing yourself to fully submerge in the process of drinking tea.
Not only does it help me calm my mind, but it also makes my tea time more enjoyable.
Knowing what you need to do the next day and even putting timestamps on each task you’ll do provides a sort of peace.
It reduces my anxiety because somehow, it gives me a sense of control over my day. I know what to do and I’m not all over the place. It also helps me prioritize items according to tasks and reduce the chance of forgetting something important.
These are simple self-care routines you can include during nighttime and as always, you can tweak them according to what fits your lifestyle. You can also add them with another activity that you feel like doing.
The key is to find something that will help you achieve peace, bliss, and calmness.
