The cold season has officially started and in a blink of an eye, the holidays are finally here.
That being said, the days will become shorter and busier so now, I want you to pause, breath deeply, and be in the moment.
I know that you are busy and you might become more occupied in the next few days but now, take this time to learn self-care tips for fall.
The beauty of autumn, other than the scenic moments it providers, is that it’s a time for gratitude and reflection, and learning the self-care ideas below can make this season more wonderful.
Whether you’re still a student, a stay-at-home mom, a business person, or a career woman, stress is a part of you. It can be good for our body, especially when we want to be motivated and productive but too much of it can be detrimental to our physical and mental health.
The good news is that it can be reduced but we have to acknowledge that we can’t completely remove negative feelings, such as frustration, anger, emptiness, and the link.
But then, we can find ways for how to alleviate stress and one of the most effective solutions is self-care.
Self-care allows you to recharge your body whenever you feel tired; it allows you to clear your mind whenever you are overwhelmed.
Without it, we might suffer from illnesses, anxiety, or depression.
Now that you know why self-care is important (or at least have an idea why it’s beneficial), you might be wondering what type of self-care is right for you.
The thing is, there’s no right or wrong way to do it. You might see self-care influencers tell you to do this or do that but here’s what I found out:
Self-care varies. What works for you might not work for me and vice versa.
Self-care is listening to what your body wants at the moment.
That’s why I said that there’s no right or wrong way to do it. As long as it’s what you feel you want at the moment, then do it.
Of course, it should be healthy for your mental, emotional, and physical health.
Tap into your inner child and be fun and creative with simple activities for autumn. This can include:
Binge-watch Halloween movies
Visit an Oktoberfest event
Visit an orchard and eat some freshly picked apples
Rake the leaves. Jump in a pile of leaves. Collect leaves.
Create s’mores and camp out
Carve pumpkins
The cold weather calls for a warm drink of your choice — soothing tea, cocoa, pumpkin spice latte, your call!
If you’re anything like me, there’s something amazing when you hold a warm cup of beverage during a brisk season. Match it with the drink’s smell plus the smell of the autumn wind!
If you want to make this experience extra special, don’t just drink it right away instead, turn every step into meditation.
For instance, if you are making tea, put your attention into every part of the process. Listen to the sound of the water as it boils, watch it change its color as you steep the tea leaves, activate your other senses as you pour the tea into your teacup.
Smell the blend and practice gratitude. Drink and savor your first sip.
First of all, what do you believe in? Do you stand against violence? Are you a cancer advocate? Do you promote women empowerment? Whatever is it, now’s a good time to put an effort, time, or money into something that you are passionate about.
Sometimes, there’s a great amount of joy and satisfaction knowing that you’ve helped another person or cause.
And speaking of cause, our IFundWomen of color campaign is still running, and if you want to support a community that empowers and encourages women to take care of themselves, feel free to support us.
Setting boundaries can be challenging but it can give you the peace of mind you need. It’s a form of self-care that allows you to NOT overcommit or agree to something you’re not comfortable with.
Now that it’s fall and the holiday seasons are coming, it’s possible that you have too many things on your plate already. If don’t learn how to create boundaries, it’s possible that you’ll end up exhausted mentally and physically.
If you want to learn how to say “no” instead of saying “yes”, here are a few tips.
I know… you’re a superwoman and you rarely ask for help; however, this can be unsafe for you in the long run.
If you won’t ask for help and without self-care, you’re likely to experience burn out exhaustion, or resentment. On the other hand, if you learn how to delegate tasks or seek help, you can avoid or at least, reduce these negative feelings.
It can be terrifying to ask for help, especially if you’ve been rejected before but most of the time, our fears are based only on assumptions. Some people are willing to lend a helping hand and all you have to do is ask.
These are just some self care tips for fall that you can try easily and without paying for anything. If you have more, feel free to share them below.
